Peranakan splendour tiffany blue and blush peony

Gorgeous Peranakan inspired cake I did for my Aunty Chik's birthday.  Aunty Chik is a peranakan and I thought I wanted to create a cake design that reflect her heritage but give it a modern twist.

My cake inspiration was from amazing artist Louise Hill beautiful artwork Pink peony.


Featuring peony(typically found in peranankan porcelain ware, tiles and kebaya), whimsical element of nature and Singapore's shophouse architecture.  I thought it will be a pretty element to add on to my cake design.




The gold chinese character is "Shou" which mean longetiviy is hand cut out of fondant.





Peony was handcrafted out of sugar.


Love the contrast between the texture of vintage peony decoupage with bas relief.


Cake flavour : Vanilla, passion fruit.
