Delicate frill with handpainted dancer decorated with handcrafted fantansy peony

Dance was once so dear to my heart, and I have dedicated my formative years to this form of art.
I have left the dance art for 20 years now and today I am so honoured to create this cake for my dance teacher.
Thank you for teaching me discipline and brought me up in the world of dance.
You have been an inspiration!

The handcrafted fantasy peony was frilled so thinly to add design interest and texture.

Some bas relief texture

Peranakan Kebaya with edible embroidery motifs for EC50

It was such an honour to create this beautiful cake for Elizabeth's 50th birthday celebration.
The birthday girl is a true blue Peranakan.  She liked my Elegant White Cheongsum from my previous works .

With that concept as a seeding idea, we evolved it to a Peranakan Kebaya with traditional elements such as the floral embroidery, bead and bold colours.

For the colour theme, I worked along with the pictures provided by Elizabeth with pink and turquoise  colours from the Peranakan designed tile and jar.

This is my interpretation of the inspiration!

I try to incorporate peony in the edible embroidered motifs with combination of cutwork, beads and laces.  I really loved how the sugar embroidered motifs along the bottom edge of Kebaya turned out.

The Peranakan Kebaya is usually secured at the front by a set of three interlinked brooches know as a Kerongsang.  I crafted the brooches with fondant and painted with edible antique gold with some sugar pearl accent.  A handcrafted sugar peony was also added to this ensemble.

Elizabeth told me via Whatsapp message the day after the celebrations that "this beautiful cake made my day extra special" and that really made my day!!!

Cake flavour was moist chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and Varlhorna crunchy pearls.

Great Gatsby Inspired Wedding Cake for Oz and Susan

I feel so honoured to make this wedding cake for a lovely couple Oz and Susan.
The couple took inspiration from the iconic movie " The Great Gatsby" and chose black, white and gold as the colour theme.

The 1920's are one of my favourite eras for fashions.  There are so much originality in the style of dress.  I evoked the era of the cake design with art deco inspired gowns incorporating beadings, feathers and antique jewellery.

This is my interpretation of the cake design of the roaring 20's.

This wedding cake is adorned with edible beadings, flapper style beaded fringe and Art Deco Scallop pattern that exudes Great Gatsby glamour.

Love the combination of the Art Deco scallop design, handcrafted sugar antique jewellery and the oversized handcrafted sugar rose,

More photos of the cake in the wedding reception.
